Bear Sighting in Town

Sunday, June 29, 2025, in Glen Rock got a bit wilder than usual when a young black bear was spotted roaming the neighborhood. First seen on the grounds of Byrd School, the curious visitor was later seen making its way across the Main Line train tracks and on Rodney Street.
A backyard video captured the bear mid-breakfast attempt, trying to wrestle seed from a bird feeder. Meanwhile, several residents have recently noticed what looks like bear scat in their yards, possibly hinting that this wasn’t the bear’s first trip through town.
Though not entirely unheard of, bear sightings in Glen Rock remain rare. Residents were quick to notify police on Sunday, but the sightings weren’t reported to the public, and there’s no indication that Animal Control or other wildlife authorities were dispatched.
So far, the bear seems to have kept to itself, and there have been no reports of aggressive behavior or injury. Still, it’s a timely reminder to secure trash bins, take down bird feeders, and avoid leaving pet food outdoors.
Whether our furry friend has moved along or is still exploring the borough remains to be seen. In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled and your phones ready. You never know what might wander into Glen Rock next.
