Tree Removals at Faber Field

In response to questions from residents about the recent tree removals along Doremus Avenue near the Lower Faber turf field, the Borough of Glen Rock has issued a public update to clarify the reasoning and outline next steps.
The trees in question were inspected by the Borough’s Licensed Tree Care Operator (LTCO), who is part of the Department of Public Works. The evaluation found several safety hazards, including trunk decay, cracked limbs, carpenter ants, exposed roots, root gurgling, and dead branches. These conditions posed a risk to public safety and made removal necessary.
The Borough is fortunate to have in-house tree care expertise, allowing for thorough inspections and swift action without outsourcing. The same team that identified the issue also led the safe removal process.
Looking Ahead:
Replacement trees will be thoughtfully selected for that area and planted when conditions are right. In the meantime, Glen Rock’s broader commitment to maintaining and expanding its tree canopy remains strong.
The 2025 Street Tree Planting Program is expected to begin in mid-June, following a recently awarded contract. As part of this effort, the Borough will plant 50 new shade trees this season.
Glen Rock proudly continues its long-standing recognition as a Tree City USA, and remains committed to sustainable tree management and neighborhood greenery.
